Alsace, Beautiful region, friendly people, great wine!
Where would you most like to go next?
Austria and Germany, we have already booked for August.
Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
Ribeuville was spectacular. We stayed at the 'Song of the birds' At night we would sit on our balcony and listen to the birds singing and the Cathedral bells chiming while sipping a great local wine. Every morning the birds would sing us awake.
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
I enjoy history, and the history in Europe is at every turn. My wife and I also like Wine and its companions, good food and good friends.
Which Untours have you already done?
Alsace
What advice would you give others considering an Untour?
GO!! If its your first trip to Europe or your 50th, Untours does a great job.

Hi Gordon,
I just left a comment on your question about credit cards.
We stayed at the Castle in Sommersdorf in 2006 and loved it. Which apt are you staying in? If you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask me. I still have lots of notes and photos. You might want to check my photo album for Bavaria.
A suggestion for the area, if you by any chance have a portable GPS, get yourself a Europe chip and take it with you. It's a really great place to use one! There are lots of back roads and they are really fun to take versus the autobahn.
Frank and I are starting to plan our next trip which is going to be Austria we hope in the fall. Probably Salzburg. Which apt did you choose there?
Hope to talk to you more along the way.
Marlene
Hi again,
You're right Frank and I always have a good time no matter where we go. We like meeting the locals too, and even though I can't speak anything but English, I learn a few words and always manage to communicate with them. Have fun trying too!
We just put a hold on the Seiwald also for our trip. It came highly recommended by another Untourist to me.
You'll like the Carola at Sommersdorf. It's located in the main building of the castle same as the Baron's apt. They really make you feel welcome!
I'll have to send you some information along the way for Sommersdorf.
Talk to you later,
Marlene

Hi Gordon,
Long time since we talked. I haven't been on the cafe for the past month very much but just noticed your note about the GPS in Destination Salzburg.
I left you a reply and several others have also. You might want to check it out.
How's your planning coming along? We have been so busy the past couple months with out of town guests and our Maui trip planning that I haven't started planning for Austria yet. Guess I have to get really busy now!! If you have any helpful hints, leave me a note on Destination Salzburg!!!
Marlene
I'm impressed!
You will probably need more cool than warm clothing but layers are always good. We went to Switzerland in June and really didn't need much in line of warmth except on our trip to the Jungfrau. In Bavaria at end of September, we only wore our cooler clothes even when we went to the mountains. It won't expect it to be Florida hot and humid but probably pretty comfortable. We found the areas much like our weather in San Francsico area. But then again, we dress in layers here because it can change by the minute. Guess we all are trying to pack lighter nowadays with the new baggage regulations for domestic travel.

You must be ready to pack for your trip soon. Hope it is wonderful. We'll have to compare notes when we both get back.
Have fun!
