I'll be heading to the Swiss Heartland later this month and was wondering what to expect in terms of costs for dining out. In US dollars, what might a typical lunch or dinner out run for a couple?

I will make this a public response so maybe others will come in with their opinion and comments. But first let us wish you a wonderful trip. This is a place that will grab your heart and keep it no matter how many times you return. You can choose a wide range of costs and control them even further if you want to cook at home - we don't, however, we actually do what we do at home, eat lunch out and snack at our apartment with happy hour in the evening. You can find sandwiches for under $8.00, medium meals for about $15, and the best for $28-$40 for entrees. The Untour literature and the orientation period your second day gives hints too. The Tage Menu (daily menu) at lunch is a good deal with plenty of food for about $15-$18. All of this is plus drinks. A glass of beer costs about $4, Coke, coffee or bottle of water $4.50 or so. No refills. It ain't cheap but it is good and you almost have to take the attitude that you are here to enjoy yourselves and experience a wonderful place.
