Twenty-somethings falling in love with each other and Austria!
Anyone looking to plan their first or next Untour, I would highly
recommend the Salzburg Untour - and renting the Werfen apartment!
Picture perfect European village complete with castle view from
your apartment window...and the rental car that comes with was the
best thing that ever happened to us. So much to explore, making our
own day-trip schedules led us on wonderful adventures and
memorable, stunning drives. And our "secret" find: we drove to the
wine region just outside Vienna, a sleepy town where there's a
different vintner every 30 yards. We walked into one wine makers
home (Nastl vineyards) to have a tasting and the hosts were so
hospitable that we ended up with private tour of their wine cellar
and learned so much from Mrs. Nastl! Beautiful Rieslings and Gruner
Veltliners - we took half a suitcase full home!

This reminds me of when Heinz Spitzer took us up in the hills above
Golling to a farmer who specializes in home brew schnapps. After
sitting in his kitchen sampling, we were glad that Heinz was the
driver going home.

I just placed our trip log of our 1994 Untour visit to the
Netherlands. Some have asked to see it, so it should be available
if everything went well.

Untours on the Amalfi Coast: Yes, here I am on assignment in sunny Italy looking for accomodations and staffing for a new possible Untour adventure: The Amalfi Coast. Just to give a sneak preview, I've visited the towns of Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento and Positano, not to metion a full day at the ruins of Pompeii. The buses are efficient, I say leave the driving to the Amalfiani so that you can sit back and enjoy to views around every curve on the road. And believe, me there are lots of curves on the road! The towns are charming, offering art, sea, sun, shopping, you name it. Look for a blog soon.
