I agree with Joan and Bruce - take nothing. Switzerland's markets have a wide selection. Forget your favorite from America and go Swiss - eat what they eat!
I loved, loved, loved the Sintra Untour; I stayed in the "Explorers" apartments and got around very well using public transportation. (I even took a three day trip to Madeira!)
It's a shame that there wasn't enough interest to continue it, but Port…
Vickie, don't worry, we understand your privacy issues, and the Cafe isn't going anywhere! We're promoting the Cafe on Facebook, too. It's just that there are millions of people on Facebook who don't know about Untours yet. Since our advertising is…
We did really like Sintra as a base for an Untour in Portugal, but demand was not strong enough to sustain the program. Here's the e-mail of our former staff person. He might be able to help you put something together there: joao.parracho.filipe@gma…
Idyll used to have a wonderful Untours location in Sintra. It was a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I think, unfortunately, it was discontinued due to lack of interest, but perhaps someone from Untours can answer this better than I.
My wife has long wanted to visit Portugal, and we feel that an UnTour would be the best way to enjoy it. However, UnTours does not offer a Portugal UnTour. Is there something about Portugal that causes Untours to deliberately avoid it?
Tell us about one of your favorite places to stay on an Untour. Do you have a favorite host? Apartment? Village?
Azienda Agrituristica di Vannetti Orfeo, 53020 San Givanni d'Asso, Italy
Do you have any special interests or hobbies that you follow when you travel?
- As a Gardener seeking informal gardens and flowers everywhere - the wilder and more natural so much the better.
- Street Markets
- Enjoying the local food and wine
Which Untours have you already done?
South Tuscany and Swiss Heartland
What advice would you give others considering an Untour?
Loved your cute video of the La Canonica driveway.
Four of us did that several years ago when Harriet
arranged for us to have dinner there one evening. Boy, that's really 1st gear going up and coming down!
We were in Buonconvento last year, from Oct. 4 -
Oct. 18. Assume you were there for the term
beginning Oct. 18. And hope you enjoyed the
Untour hosted event at the Abbey of Monte
Oliveto followed by lunch at Ristorante La Torre.
Last year was the first time it was held there and
while the locations in earlier years were good,
nothing compared to the Abbey.
Edward:
Thank you for the information on olive oils. It was very useful. Now, I'll try to find one or two.

I see you two are going to Switzerland next year. I wrote a triplog which is located on the other Untours site (in the older section of triplogs). We did the Swiss Oberland Untour in 2004. Still you might find the information interesting since you can get to the same things just by different routes. Sorry it is rather long. I would have broken it up in parts if I was doing it today but it was back in the earlier years of triplogs. I originally had photos in it but that made it even longer. I also have some slideshows in the newer section on Switzerland.
Hope you find them helpful. If not ask me for more info.
love your patagonia photos - i'm going to santiago, ushuaia, the falklands, south georgia, and antarctica for 3 weeks in november - do you have any suggestions on what's a must to take with me and things to pack - thanks - marjorie
