We were in Meiringen this past Sept./Oct.. There is a nice Internet cafe right in town and I used it a few times to send/receive emails. Also, due to my mother's health, I carried a cellular telephone, which I used twice - coverage is very good in M…
Welcome to the Untours Cafe! I hope you'll have as much fun here as I do. Take your time and explore some of the photos, and videos. One of the most useful spots on the Cafe can be found by clicking the Destination tab. Since you may be considering visiting Switzerland. why not post a question or start a discussion in the SwitzerlandDestination and get the answer from experienced Untourists. That's also where you can find all the content on the cafe (photos, videos, blogs) related to that destination.
If you have a chance, fill out some of the questions in your profile so that others can learn a bit more about you, and you can also set up a picture of yourself for your page to personalize it a bit. It helps us put a face to the name.
If you run into any problems or have any question, you can send me a message or ask my colleagues, Sue, & Kim. We're here to help!
Welcome Dave, as Marilee mentioned go the the Untourscafe, click on destinations click on Switzerland Heartland. There you will find quite a few triplogs posted, read through them, especially in the winter months, and you will be able to forget about the snow, and ice storrms we have been having lately. Happy Reading, Jean and Fred from MA
Dave,
I am a real advocate of Google Earth for planning a trip. This program is free to download on your computer. (It helps if you have high speed internet.) Once you have it loaded you can zoom to anyplace on the globe. They have very detailed imagery for most of the globe. You can type in a place or navigate by using your mouse. Once you get to the area you wish to explore the view can be changed from vertical to horizontal. You can click on the 3D options and see the mountains and even buildings pop up. Movement is in any direction. You can even do a 360. Places of interest are located with a small square. These are photos that are attached to the coverage. If you click on one another window will pop up and show the photo that was taken at that spot. You can even save these as a reference of places you wish to see. You can also place a marker on a point so you can return to that exact spot. This can be very helpful if you are driving and want to plan the best route to points of interest. Don't know if this will help you but I found on a recent trip to Austria that I recognized places that I had seen while on Google Earth. If you use this program I will be glad to answer any questions you have. Ed
