Holland in June, with two granddaughters, 10 and 12....do you have any suggestions for Pat Seddon

Here's what Pat said:

(how can you not help those two ADORABLE girls have the time of their life with their grandma?)

"I have a one week trip booked to Holland starting June 16. I'm 62 and retired and I'll have two of my granddaughters, ages 12 and 14, with me. I've been to several other European countries (not with Untours
though) but It's my first time to Holland and my first Untour. Then
we're going on to Belgium for a few days to connect with family. I
imagine we'll see you at the apartment.

I've been reading two guidebooks that give me lots of ideas of things
to do and places to go in Holland -- Rick Steves' "Amsterdam, Bruges
& Brussels" and Eyewitness Travel's "The Netherlands" -- both of
which I bought at Barnes & Noble. The people at the Untours 800 #
have also been very helpful in guiding me to websites for answers to my
questions.

I would like some advice on things to do with 12 and 14 year old girls that would be a diversion from historical or tourist sights -- they're
not children anymore, but not moody, temperamental teenagers yet
either. Livvy, the 12 year old, is especially into playing soccer, and
Izzy, the 14 year old, is in to boys & text messaging. Is there
some place for teenage music or hangouts maybe? Thanks so much for
offering your help.

Hi Pat:

Zandfoort is I think if I remember correctly, a district of Haarlem, out on the coast to the west of Adam.
If they want to see folks dressed in folk costumes, I would think that the Alkamaar, and or Edam would be good for the cheese market aspect, and hering too.

the -wijks an Zee are at about 8:30am on the clock from ADAM with den Haag and Delft @ 6am. ish

I knew I saw a pilgrim museum somewhere! I'm glad to see it's right in Leiden. Thanks.

Hi: I just happened to read this again and realized that we will be there at the same time that you are. I, a close female friend and my daughter. I have gotten lots of information on wonderful things to do, but really just wanted to meet my "neighbor" as I think we will probably be in the same apartment building! What fun it is going to be. Hi Kathy: Looking forward to meeting you. How old is your daughter? Which apartment are you in? We're in the first floor Rembrandt. Are you there for one week or two? The girls and I are getting very excited -- now it's only 3 months until we leave!

Hi Pat: My daughter is 28. We will be staying in the Frans Hals
apartment and we are there for two weeks. We are all getting really excited and I just booked our air. Booking our air this past week really gets me in the mood. Lots of reading still to do. We will have to get together for dinner or a glass of wine. Kathy
