I understand that Italy has direct current. Is it possible to take a Yankee hairdryer with an adapter?
Or is it smarter to buy one over there?

My husband and I are vacationing in Spello, Umbria in September, 2009

Italy has alternating current just as we do, however the voltage is 220, twice what we have. Many hairdryers sold in the US have a small switch on them that converts from 110 to 220 volts. Check out your dryer. If it doesn't have the switch, try your local Target or WalMart for a new compact travel dryer.

If your vacation is with UnTours, all UnTours apartments supply a hairdryer.
