Untours Cafe

I don't think there is an Untours for the California wine country/National Parks/ San Francisco/Pacific Coast Drive. If there is OR if any of you have been to these places and has advice, please post.

We were in California in 2006 for two weeks. Places visited include San Francisco, Carmel/17 Mile Drive, winery in Sonoma, Sausalito, Bodega Bay, Muir Woods, Yosemite National Park. I have a day-by-day photo/narrative for the first 11 days posted on Kodak Easyshare. If you are interested I can send you links to the daily photo/narrative "episodes."

You might want to email Marlene Hench, who is a member of Untours Cafe. She lives near San Francisco.

Yes - thanks so much - we'd love to get the links and any advice or itineraries that you might have.

I will try putting the first link for Day 1 "Arrival in San Francisco" in this reply. Let me know if you are able to view the slide show. If you can, put the cursor on the narrative above each photo to see the narrative. If you are able to see the slide show, I will then start posting the links for the following days in chronological order starting tomorrow.

Let me know.

Bill - I got the slide show - it is great - if it continues - we may just use your itinerary! Keep them coming - how did you go about getting your itinerary together - travel agent? untours people?
thanks - Janie

I created our itinerary myself, based on what we wanted to see and how much time we wanted to spend in each location.

Before I forget, if you are planning to get lodging in Yosemite National Park, do it online ASAP. You cannot make reservations for lodging there more than 365 days ahead of time. When checking their site in July, 2005, I wanted to get May or June. But those dates were all taken. So I tried for July and got reservations. The only problem was that July was hot in 2006, even in San Francisco. The summer of 2006 just happened to be a record breaking hot summer in California. June or September are probably a better choice. Also we tried to schedule most of our stay at Yosemite during the week. Weekends get crowded. The Ken Burns special will probably result in record crowds at Yosemite next summer.

Here is Day 2:

Bill - these are wonderful! I am about half way through looking at them. I am home from school with a bad case of laryngitis today so it's a good day to look. I'm forwarding them on to our friends who want to go with us.
Can't thank you enough.
