Untours Cafe

I finally have my slide show together with music and captions. When I send it to myself or friends, the captions are missing. The slide show loses all meaning without the captions. I am wondering if I send it to the Untours cafe if the captions will be missing also.
Should I put the show on a disc and send it that way??
I need help.

Ginny, what did you use to make the slideshow?

Ginny, I don't think you will be able to just transfer the slideshow as you have it. You may have to either upload it to the Untours Cafe as a video (if you can somehow transform the slideshow into a video), or upload the photos individually to the Untours Cafe site and then give them names/captions.

Maybe if you post more details here in this discussion, someone may have had experience with it and can help you out.

What if I have a cd made and then send it to you? Then you can download or upload it on to the Untours cafe?????

So far I have a series of pictures depicting Gigi's Adventures in Switzerland. They are simply photos with captions and a musical background. Maybe I should try another photo shop. This one is called simple star and it is with FinePIx or Ritzpix. Would Adobe or Kodak be better??

Ginny, sending us the CD wouldn't make a difference, I don't think. We would be able to look at it here at the office with the CD but the problem with uploading it would still exist.

I'm not familiar with FinePix or Ritzpix... and I don't know what the options would Adobe or Kodak are -- I'm pretty sure it isn't a direct transfer into the Untours Cafe.

Can you suggest a software that would transfer into the Untours cafe? I have seen others post slide shows with music.on the website.

Perhaps someone can recommend one -- I personally haven't ever used that kind of software. You could send a messages to the people who have posted slideshow videos that you like.

Also, in this case I think those are posted as videos, not as photos, so it is different.

I use a program called FotoMagico to make my slideshows, which are actually slideshows converted to videos. Unfortunately for many people out there, this is a program for Mac OS X only. From what I understand, Windows users can use MovieMaker (which may already be on your computer -- if not, it's a free download from Windows) or Pinnacle Studio 11 (relatively inexpensive movie-editing software) to make video slideshows. QuickTime Pro can be used by either Mac or Windows users to make a very basic video slideshow with music.
I don't know if any of these pieces of software will upload directly to the Cafe. What I do is save the movie file to my desktop and upload it from there.
Hope this helps a little.

Ginny, I had the same problem until I uploaded my photos to Picasa, then embedded the slide show (click keep captions). It is a free program with many options and easy to use. Hope this helps. Pat Mc

Thank you Patricia, I have used Picassa also. Finally I had good luck with Microsoft movie maker. After numerous tries, I realized I had to put the caption on when I put the picture on instead of trying to place them on the video after wards. Live and learn. I am not very adept at using the camera technology yet. I just got my first digital camera last year and you can see by my video" Advenrures of Gigi in Switzerland," it is pretty elelmentary Thanks for the info. I am grateful for any help offered.

Ginny,

I think you are doing GREAT! You are an inspiration to the rest of us.....we are all learning in this new world, and I am really impressed that you persevered. For anyone reading this thread, Picasa is free, and Microsoft MovieMaker is usually shipped with every Windows PC I have ever seen.

Maybe we should have a "slideshow with captions" worksheet, or workshop?

Anyway, well done, Ginny!
