How did your photo upload go? Anything puzzling or peculiar?

This is just to start a thread that people can put all their photo feedback into...

Permalink Reply by Pete and Maggie Haggart on June 23, 2007 at 4:35pm: Hi to All - I actually loaded pictures yesterday, but then took Marilee's advice and traded those photos for smaller versions that did not take up so much space. Then today I loaded many more pixs to my page and I will also load them to the other web site Flicker.

I would like to note that the loading is simple and easy - I was taking them from my laptop computer files and uploading to the Cafe. Then it was easy to add titles and descriptions (mine are too long) and key words and save the photos. I should also note that in doing the descriptions I could consult my trip notes and literally copy material from my notes (microsoft word) directly to the Cafe picture description page. Nice touch and easy to do.

So - how do the photos that I put on my web site get shared with all the others! They can go to my site but what other methods can they use??

Permalink Reply by Pete and Maggie Haggart on June 23, 2007 at 11:03pm: I have a program that can be downloaded from Microsoft that when you right click on a photograph when looking at them in Windows Explorer it lets you re-size the photo and still retain the original - it gives you three sizes to choose from and takes just a few seconds to complete. I believe it came at the site where you download "powertoys for windows" ---- if anyone is interested I can give you the site address.

So I uploaded photos and got interrupted by a phone call so hit the skip this part button and now all I could seem to do is edit the photo name. Is there a way to go back and do anything else with it like add a description, delete, etc. OR is it one of those items that once it is posted cannot be changed? I have family websites on myfamily.com so on there when I post pictures I can go back and edit information on the picture but others are not authorized to edit on my pictures. They can only leave comments on it.; ▶ Reply to This

On the "Silly Photos" forum I clicked on "Would you like to Upload Files? link instead of the little green box. Now it seems to work so I am going to try to delete the old one and replace it with the correction.

By the way, I had the same problem with inserting a picture in "My Page - Untours Cafe Box". I expected to see a picture show up instead of file writings before I pressed "save". But guess what....when I saved it the photo showed up. Voila!

Permalink Reply by Pete and Maggie Haggart on July 10, 2007 at 8:13pm: What you see at the site - and that includes working on a blog - is the hypertext and hyperlinks that make up web sites when you construct them. So when you use italics or bold or insert a picture it shows up in this special language of programming first and then you see the finished product as a complete web page. It looks strange but it works. Before programs like Microsoft's Front Page came along we had to write the page that you see in that sort of format - look at it published and then change it over and over and over again until it looked right. Permalink Reply by Walt Slazyk on August 10, 2007 at 11:44am: This site can be overwhelming so I'm taking baby steps with the Cafe. Yesterday I uploaded a couple of photos and the titles and descriptions are correct. However, on the Photos tab, underneath the thumbnail photo it reads "by Me" rather than by my full name or by my userid. If you click on the link for "Me" it takes you to my page so this is somehow linked to my account but I am stumped as to how to correct this. Has anyone esle encountered this?
